Christine Karstedt Shares Auction Tales

One of the highlights of the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Show in Orlando was the Educational Seminar hosted by Scott Travers. Held on Friday afternoon, January 6, in a room near the bourse floor, the event drew a packed gallery.

The program centered on gold, inflation, the current economy, and recommended strategies for rare coin collectors and investors. Representing the rare coin auction business was Christine Karstedt, who explained the advantages of buying and selling gold, silver, and other coins through the auction venue.

She gave anecdotes from her experience at Stack’s Bowers Galleries and in the showcasing of major collections and rarities over a long period of years in the field. She then called for a show of hands from the audience as to how many people were not members of the American Numismatic Association and stated that Stack’s Bowers Galleries would give anyone interested a full one-year membership free of charge!

After the Educational Seminar ended, Chris set up a table and was thronged by dozens of people who signed up. “Being part of Scott Travers's exciting seminar was a wonderful experience,” Chris stated. “It was certainly a dynamic event that will be remembered for a long time.”

Other invited contributors included numismatists Maurice Rosen and Jim Kingsland.
