Happy Groundhog Day!

Georgia's official weather prognosticator and groundhog, General Beauregard Lee, once again appeared at sunrise today at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn to make his annual prediction.

His prediction was announced on Twitter at 8:03 a.m. "Beau doesn't see his shadow. An early spring is right around the corner," the post read. That means Georgia should see an early spring this year.

Beau's prediciton was contrary to the nation's official groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, who resides at Gobbler’s Farm in Pennsylvania. He predicted six more weeks of winter this morning.

If Beau's prediction comes true, this winter would go on record as one of the state's warmest and shortest winters in a long time.
