Here it is: Saturday! As the show winds down, I hope you can reflect upon having had a great event. To paraphrase an old advertising saying, “If you’ve had a wonderful show, tell all of your friends and customers. If there has been a glitch, let General Manager David Crenshaw know and he’ll make it better for next time.”
Really. The Whitman Expos have earned the reputation of being the most dealer-friendly in the nation. With Whitman it is almost walk-through, like driving your car through an automatic toll gate!
Speaking of Whitman, the very best way to hold a customer is to give him or her good information about numismatics. And, there is no better way to do this than by laying in a stock of a dozen or more Whitman titles, even if you don’t have a shop or display counter. If a customer reads and enjoys a book on Morgan dollars, or Lincoln cents, or ancient coins, those series will come alive and a desire to own such pieces will develop. Lucky you!
As I see it, the numismatic market will remain strong for the foreseeable future. The economic uncertainties in Europe, the near collapse of the Greek monetary system (part of the Euro), the mysterious 900-point drop in the Dow, and the insolvency of many states and cities in America will mean more doubt. Gold in particular, but other items too, should remain interesting to own and a good store of value.
See you in a few weeks at the Expo in Baltimore. I hope you’ll be there! All good wishes!
