U.S. Rep. Mike Castle Visits ICTA Members and Expo Dealers

Former Delaware Gov. and curent U.S. Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) paid a visit on Thursday, March 4 to members of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets (ICTA) and Expo dealers at the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo. Rep. Castle is well known in numismatic circles for his support of federal legislation relating to the hobby. For the past 17 years, Mr. Castle has been at the forefront of nearly every significant piece of numismatic legislation that has become law. Rep. Castle:

  • Authored rules to reform the Mint’s commemorative coin programs in 1995.
  • Was the leading sponsor of the popular 1997 State Quarters legislation.
  • Sponsored the Sacagawea dollar coin and later a further revised dollar coin in 2004.
  • Authored the bill creating the Presidential Dollar Coin program.
  • Authored the legislation creating the American Buffalo 24-Karat Gold Coins.
A 9-term Member of Congress, Rep. Castle is a former Delaware Governor who moved from the statehouse to Congress in 1993. He serves on the House Committee on Financial Services, which has jurisdiction over banking and the securities and the insurance industry. Rep. Castle is currently running for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Vice President Joe Biden.
