George B. Tremmel is a retired information technology director whose career included assignments across the United States, Great Britain, and the Middle East. A graduate of Georgia Tech and the University of South Carolina (MBA), he has spent most of his life in the Carolinas. Tremmel has studied Confederate paper money for more than 40 years and began researching Confederate counterfeit currency in 1995, culminating in his book Counterfeit Currency of the Confederate States of America. He has also contributed numerous articles to the Society of Paper Money Collectors’ journal, Paper Money. He resides in Raleigh, North Carolina.
