Harlan J. Berk is a distinguished numismatist whose lifelong career began with a childhood discovery of rare coins that sparked a passion for the field. In 1964, he founded Harlan J. Berk, Ltd., now one of the nation’s leading firms specializing in ancient coins, which he operates with his children. Berk is also president and part owner of Gemini LLC, a major numismatic auction house. A longtime leader in the Professional Numismatists Guild, he has served as its president and received numerous top honors, including the Abe Kosoff Founders Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. Berk is a prolific author, educator, and former Numismatist of the Year, widely respected for his scholarship, mentorship, and contributions to both ancient numismatics and collector education.
